International Programs

The International Laparoscopy Fellowship is designed to provide the opportunities and resources for residents, fellows, and dedicated urologic surgeons to enhance their knowledge of laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic skills are an essential part of all surgical disciplines, especially urology, and this course gives the basic rudimentary, theoretical, and practical skills that surgeons need for further developing minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques.

Throughout the course, practicing urologists will focus on studying didactics, observing in the OR, practicing surgical techniques via the laparoscope and the da Vinci robot, and performing laparoscopic skills and procedures in an animal simulation lab. This intensive course provides ample opportunity to practice in the simulation laboratory, using high-quality laparoscopic equipment, before transitioning to the animal lab. There is an ample opportunity for surgeons to gain exposure in all areas of practical laparoscopic surgeries in one of the most advanced centers for minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques.

Our Goals

At the conclusion of this course, participants should:

– Understand the fundamentals of Laparoscopic surgery

– Gain direct experience through OR observation as well as animal simulation labs

– Develop a level of skill to assess feasibility for each attendee’s independent surgical practice
